At Tribe, we care deeply about the origin of our materials, and when possible, procure locally reclaimed hardwoods. We work with vendors who dedicate their lives to the recovery, milling and storage of naturally fallen lumber. Northern California is home to some of the world’s most beautiful cypress, elm, walnut and oak. 

As woodworkers our craft is to design, cut and join lumber in a way that exposes the beautiful and functional potential of the plant, in many ways we are simply unlocking characteristics that are readily observable in nature and almost impossible to surpass in a shop.

While wood is our primary visual driver Tribe, we also frequently utilize metal in our furniture pieces. The strength and and plasticity of metal empower structural and functional creativity in the design process. Additionally, the flexibility of metal finishes allows us to off-set the wood in our work to enhance a piece’s visual aesthetic.
